Helpful tips

Practical ideas for everyday work with a child on the autism spectrum.

Successful work with a child is usually built from small, repeatable steps. Clear and short instructions, predictable routines and an environment with fewer distractions can make learning much easier.

Give advance notice before transitions, make sure the child is ready to listen, divide new skills into manageable stages and reinforce progress. Consistency and calm communication are more effective than pressure.
